The Best Investor Website Awards have named Fletcher Building’s website as successfully meeting the needs of its investors
The Awards judged that out of all the NZX50 companies, Fletcher Building’s investors received the best on-line communication, scoring them an 86 out of a possible 100, with Goodman Fielder second on 84 and Auckland International Airport third on 83.
Since the awards began in 2007, Fletcher Building has gone from not appearing in the top 10, to taking the number one spot.

Houston – we have lift-off
Auckland Airport’s Route Development team has had another win! They got airborne in April when they were shortlisted for the World Routes Airport Marketing Awards after winning the Oceania, then Asia awards. Now they have liftoff again with Continental Airways announcing that they are commencing direct flights between Houston and Auckland. Congratulations to a team that is making New Zealand’s international gateway a source of pride.

Congratulations to Fletcher Building was recently recognised at the 2009 AIRA (Australasian Investor Relations Association) Investor Awards. Fletcher Building were winners in two categories: Best International Investor Relations by an Australasian Company; and Best Investor Relations by a New Zealand Company.
The awards are judged by members of the Association based on the following criteria:
- Accessibility of senior management
- Consistency of communication
- Diligence in communication
Such that the overall message of the company is communicated effectively and clearly and the market is kept fully informed of its progress and prospects.

New Zealand brand for personal brewery wins Gold in international design awards
The design and launch of the brand for the world's first personal brewery, WilliamsWarn, has won design and brand agency Studio Alexander a Gold award in the international Graphis 100 Best in Design.
"We're delighted to have been selected by Graphis from the many thousands of entries submitted by agencies internationally," Studio Alexander managing director Kate Alexander says. "It's also great that it’s an international brand for a truly innovative product, developed by New Zealanders in New Zealand."
The WilliamsWarn personal brewery produces commercial quality beer, chilled, and straight from the tap in just seven days. Launched in 2011, WilliamsWarn received over 200 offers of distribution from over 50 countries in the first five months. Available only in New Zealand initially, WilliamsWarn breweries are now distributed internationally.
Studio Alexander managing director Kate Alexander says that when her team first met the WilliamsWarn principals in 2009, the brewery was still a product in development.
"But WilliamsWarn was clear that they would be taking an internationally innovative product to export markets and they wanted a quality of branding and design that would stand up around the world."
Over the next two years, as WilliamsWarn perfected the brewery, Studio Alexander developed naming, positioning, marketing strategy, identity design and graphic system.
"I was expecting bright colours and a complicated design," WilliamsWarn director Ian Williams says. "But when I saw the brand work Studio Alexander came up with, I knew immediately it was perfect. It was one of those moments when you know something is right. There was nothing to change and we’ve had a huge amount of very positive feedback.”
Studio Alexander's WilliamsWarn brand work will feature in Graphis's 2012 edition of the International Journal of Visual Communication.
The award caps a successful year for Studio Alexander which one four silvers and a gold award in the New Zealand design industry's Best Awards, an international Merit Award from the Society for Environmental Graphic Design for a pop-up site safety installation for client Fletcher Construction, and saw the corporate website it developed for Fletcher Building win the New Zealand Best Investor Website Award.

We've done it!
We’ve announced that Kate is taking over as managing director of Studio Alexander. For our Studio Alexander clients it’s business as usual, with Grant retaining his close hands-on day-to-day working relationships. Kate will however take overall responsibility for developing the team, spoiling existing clients (bringing in new business,) and setting the long-term direction of the company. This will free Grant up to contribute more widely to the New Zealand export sector (including existing Studio Alexander clients) as a consultant on the integration of design into business thinking.

Kate Alexander has been appointed Managing Director of award-winning design and brand agency Studio Alexander.
Studio Alexander works with major corporates on brand strategy and design, and with emerging New Zealand companies with a strong commitment to design-led growth in export markets.
The agency is a consistent winner in the New Zealand design industry’s Best Awards, winning gold awards for its work on the centenary of Fletcher Building, and for its health and safety promotion for Fletcher Construction.
“It’s an exciting time to be moving into the role,” Kate Alexander says. “Since I founded the company with my father, Grant, in 2000, we’ve seen steady growth. The service ethic Grant instilled in the team, and the standard he set for the quality of the strategic and creative thinking for the agency, has seen us attract and retain substantial clients.
“During the downturn we focused on retaining and developing our team, even though there was little work around Today we have a stable core team of 12. We are also currently recruiting.”
Grant Alexander who now consults to a range of organisations as a design integration specialist, will remain involved in Studio Alexander as a director of the company.
“The issue of succession in a family business can be fraught,” Grant Alexander says. “After ten very happy and successful years spent building the company with Kate, I felt it was the right time for her to take over. The design world is changing, and I feel confident Kate will direct Studio Alexander’s response to that so that we continue to remain at the forefront of New Zealand agencies.”
